Update on 13 year old pot smoker
Jess's mother said she isn't going to do anything about it because of her negative experience when her mother tried to put her in rehab when she was in high school.
What a good friend!!

Well we want the best for our children, don't we?
I think that when a parent loves a child, they have to also love and care for the person they can be.
Does she have anyone who totally loves her or just parents who want to get through this phase as quickly and hassel-free as possible.
(Dumb question, I guess.)

when she was a kid, she said "when I grown up and have kids i am NEVER going to do that to them" she is just stubborn.
Just stubborn? That is a bit naive. She is the product of parental inconsistency and failure to set limits. That doesn't mean she can't take responsibility for herself.
People are too complex to summarize them as "just stubborn" or any other simplistic labels.
